Back to School Surprise
My agent, Christina Tugeau asked some of her artists to create an illustration based on the theme "Back to school with a surprise" for a September promotional mailing. My surprise is that the new kid in class is a bear...it was fun drawing the reaction of the kids.

The Music of the Spheres
The illustration that I did for Odyssey magazine in September was about fractions and music. It is a little different from assignments that I usually get so it was interesting to work on.
My sister said she was impressed that I didn't add faces to the music notes since I painted so many singing faces for the month of September...I must say it was very difficult holding back.

A Movement's Soul
It is the 50th anniversary of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech so I thought it was a good day to post this assignment.
The theme of the September issue of Cobblestone is also music. I got to illustrate an article about how singing helped to unite people during the civil rights movement in the 50's and 60's.
Here is the first illustration. I had a lot of fun working on this one.
Here Is the second illustration which was a bunch of portraits of musicians and MLK of course.
The third illustration was for a separate article about the children who marched in Birmingham in 1963.

Hatito!
Hatito! The September issue of Dig Magazine is about music. I illustrated this article about how Native Americans use song to help teach their children their native language.
Here is sketch I did for the assignment:

Appleseed Magazine - The Great Barrier Reef
The July/August issue of Appleseed magazine is about the Great Barrier Reef. I did a couple of illustrations for the issue. The art director asked me to reuse part of one of the illustrations I have done in the past for one of their other magazines. No problem! ;-)

Happy Fathers Day!
The shirt used to say #1 Dad but when my father saw it he said "Hey that guy is wearing my shirt!"...he was right so I had to make an adjustment.
